Riordan Mansion State Historic Park

Located at 409 W. Riordan Rd in Flagstaff, Arizona, the Riordan Mansion State Historic Park is a 40 room colossal mansion that describes in vivid details the story of how this area in the state developed over the years. This house made of wood exhibits various arts and crafts of the area. The mansion is next door to the Northern Arizona University.

Michael and Timothy Riordan were lumber barons and they had a brother names Denis. The family contributed in many ways to the development of Flagstaff and was instrumental in bringing drinking water and electricity to the town. The Riordan Mansion State Historic Park was actually the family home of the Riordan brothers and it was made in 1904. Later the family donated the house to the Arizona State Park system, and since then one part of the house has been converted into a museum.

This is a remarkable historic mansion that is definitely worth a visit. There are actually two parts in this mansion that are joined by the billiard room. Take a tour through the rustic exteriors, the servant's quarters, the living area, and even see the earliest maps of the region in the library. There are stately furniture's, volcanic stone arches, arts and crafts that will give you an idea of how influential and powerful this family was. On display are some of the best that Arizona has to offer.

In the stair landing there is a small chapel that has a wooden statue which has been hand carved. Windows are covered with Tiffany style glasses. And do not miss out on the Native American totem carvings. There are pictures and a slide show at the visitor center that is also a must see.
