State Parks //
The Fort Verde State Historic Park is an amazing experience. The bugle still sounds here, the gun still roars here, the life of the frontier is what you will get here. Here at this historic park you can experience the life through 1865 to 1890 and the Indian wars of that period.
The Fort Verde State Historic Park is located at Camp Verde in Arizona between Flagstaff and Phoenix, and can be reached over the telephone at (928) 567-3275. From the Interstate 17, the park is just 3 miles east. But during 1865 to 1890 this was where the army led by General Crook used to call it home. The General and his army was responsible for dowsing the Yavapi Indian and the Apache uprisings, and in this historic park you will find the weapons, uniforms and items of daily usage carefully preserved at the museum.
The park at Fort Verde is where you can also experience the various buildings of that time. And interestingly, most of them from that period are still there, and they have a unique architecture. Some of these buildings include the Doctor's Quarters, the Bachelors' Quarters and the Commanding Officer's Quarters. There are picnic tables and restrooms from those days as well. Go through these unique buildings and see the exhibits at the museum on your visit to the Fort Verde Park. There is also a most interesting Living history program that is a must see.
This historic park in Arizona is open from 8:00 am in the morning every day to 5:00 pm in the evening. The only exception being the Christmas Day.
