Out of Africa Wildlife Park
If you want to experience the true delights of an African Safari at the heart of Arizona, you must visit the fabulous Out of Africa Wildlife Park. You will come across more than 400 different species of animals in their natural habitat within the ambit of the park. These animals are not confined in a zoo like environment.
The Out of Africa Wildlife Park can be approached from both Phoenix and Sedona. It is just a 90 minutes drive from Phoenix. And from Sedona the park is about 30 minutes away. You must take 89A and travel south for 12 miles towards Cottonwood. Then turn east to reach Highway 260. Follow the highway for 12 miles to reach the Verde Valley Justice Center Road. From here take a left turn and you will reach the Out of Africa Wildlife Park.
Take a 45-minute tour of the park that is known as the Serengeti Safari, and you can experience a true African safari, right here in the US. While riding through the park, a personal guide will narrate to you about the different kinds of flora and fauna that you will see around you.
The park provides ample space for ostriches, giraffes, zebras and other African animals. The lions find shelter in the nearby hillocks overlooking the vast expanse of terrain.
The Wildlife Preserve is a tram or trolley tour that takes you to the photo platforms or you can also walk through the protected enclosure from where you can photograph lions, tigers, wolfs, hyenas and other predators. Or else you can watch caretakers feed the carnivores. Before calling it a day, do visit the Giant Snake show, where you can hold Pythons, Anacondas and Boas with expert reptile handlers helping you.
