Bell Rock
Bell rock is one of the many fascinating red sandstone formations that dot Sedona in Arizona. The area is near the Airport Mesa, which is another spellbinding, and popular rock formation. There are other sandstone formations too. Tourists can climb up the easy trail to reach the top of the Bell Rock.
To reach Bell Rock from Phoenix, you will have to drive down the highway 179 to reach an intersection at West 89A which is just a few minutes drive from the Burger King Y. There is a parking lot just at the foot of the feature from where tourists follow the mountain trail to the top.
The two trails that begin from the Bell Rock vista are easy to climb and are not very physically demanding. However, do watch out for loose pebbles, which lie scattered on the path. Many who walk this path report feeling an electrical charge in the body because of which there is no feeling of fatigue while hiking up the trail.
The serenity and the beauty of the rock formations make Bell Rock a most coveted tourist destination in Arizona. If you are lucky you can get a glimpse of a silver fox or a coyote along the trails. But there are other wildlife too including cottontails, javelins and enormous black rabbits with huge long ears. Hummingbirds, eagles and other types of colorful birds are seen flying across the horizon. Different kinds of lizards and other reptiles are found in the area. The area is a haven for 297 different bird species.
Come to the Bell Rock once, and you are almost certain to return.
