Airport Mesa
Airport Mesa is an amazing red sandstone formation which is located in Arizona. Red and orange glows are seen during sunsets and sunrises giving this place a spellbinding aura. This place is an ideal picnic spot, and can be easily reached from Phoenix and Sedona. The formation is located in Sedona near the Village of Oak.
From Phoenix tourists will have to take highway 179, (Exit-298) following the road past the Village of Oak. This road will take you to a place called Burger King Y in Sedona. Take a left turn here for the West 89A. The Airport road is on this road. Take the Airport road to reach the parking lot of Mesa.
Tourists come to witness the vibrant effect of sunsets and sunrises on the red rock formations. You are sure to be thrilled as the sun sets for the day, or when the sun rises.
There are a few cafes where you can catch a bite as the sun rises or sets depending on the hour of the day. The most famous cafe is the Coffee Pot Restaurant that serves delicious 101 omelets. For those visiting the area during sunsets it is advisable to bring a jacket or a blanket as the temperature takes a sharp dip after sunsets.
There are other majestic rock formations you can visit from here like the Cathedral Rock, Coffeepot Rock, the Mittens, the Cow Pies, Bell Rock, and the Rabbit Ears.
To capture the splendid views of the rock set blaze in a magnificent array of colors, you must bring a camera and capture the moment for a lifetime. Bring along comfortable shoes as you want to do some walking.
