Powell Memorial Museum

The John Wesley Powell Memorial Museum located in Page, Arizona is the only history museum in the town. The museum itself is a great place to visit with your family and take in some of the local history surrounding the Colorado River voyages of Powell in the late 1800's.

Visitors to the John Wesley Powell Memorial Museum are in for a treat – the museum covers the history of John Wesley Powell's trips on the Colorado River in 1869 and 1871. Located in Page Arizona, the museum includes sketches, photographs, and other items from the journey, as well as an interesting and diverse collection of artifacts from local Native American tribes.

But there's more to this museum- other exhibits educate visitors on the geology of the canyons in the area and the history of the town of Page. If desired, you can watch films for free on Lake Powell specifically and the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam.

Fees are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, $1.00 for kids under 12, and free for children under the age of 5. The John Wesley Powell Museum is located on the corner of N. Lake Powell Blvd. and North Navajo Drive.

Also, the Museum's Visitor Information Center is where you can reserve river and lake trips, flights, tours to Antelope Canyon and Alstrom Point, and rent powerboats and houseboats as needed. For larger groups, tours are available through a reservation, so call ahead before making plans. This museum is a wonderful experience for families and individuals wanting to learn more about the town of Page.
