On Saturday, May 19, 2012 – Armed Forces Day – the National Park Service will begin issuing an annual pass offering free entrance to all 397 national parks for active duty military members and their dependents. Read more

On the afternoon of June 5, 2012, there will be public telescope viewing of a rare Transit of Venus at the South Rim’s Grand Canyon Visitor Center. Then, from Saturday, June 16 through Saturday, June 23, the twenty-second annual Grand Canyon Star Party will be held on both the South and North Rims of the park. Read more

On May 13th, the National Park Service, in cooperation with the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will translocate wild juvenile humpback chub to Havasu Creek below Beaver Falls in Grand Canyon National Park. This translocation of humpback chub to Havasu Creek will be the second of three planned experimental releases. Read more

WILLIAMS, Ariz. - A Red Flag warning from Prescott to the Kaibab Plateau is in effect for today and tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service. This warning covers the Williams, Tusayan and North Kaibab districts of the Kaibab National Forest . Forest visitors are advised to refrain from having a campfire when Red Flag warnings exist. WILLIAMS, Ariz. - More than 55 percent of 351 Williams voters selected Craig Fritsinger as the newest Williams City Council member. Fritsinger received 195 votes over challenger Bobby Patricca, who secured 153 votes. There were three write-in votes in the May 15 election. Read more
