Record of Decision Signed for Grand Canyon's Fire Management Program

A Record of Decision for Grand Canyon National Park's Final Environmental Impact Statement and Assessment of Effect on the park's Fire Management Plan was signed on January 12, 2010 by Michael D. Snyder Regional Director for the Intermountain Region of the National Park Service. A Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register today.

The Superintendents of Lake Mead National Recreation Area (Lake Mead NRA) and Grand Canyon National Park announce the March 15th opening of the two-mile extension of the Pearce Ferry Road to the Colorado River.

Moore remains mayor

More than 70 percent voted to retain Williams Mayor John Moore in yesterday's election. Out of 511 votes cast, Moore received 342, with challenger Andy Brock receiving 116. There were 29 write-in votes for the mayoral office. Incumbent Williams City Councilman Don Dent retained his seat, with 331 votes. Newcomer Lee Payne claimed a council seat with 297 votes.

Voters say yes to incorporation

TUSAYAN, Ariz. - Voters in the Tusayan area voted yes on incorporation for the small community situated at the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park following a long campaign by those on both sides of the issue.

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - A Record of Decision (ROD) for Grand Canyon National Park's Final Environmental Impact Statement and Assessment of Effect (FEIS/AEF) on the park's Fire Management Plan was signed Jan. 12 by Michael D. Snyder, regional director for the Intermountain Region of the National Park Service (NPS).
