Winter Activities
Covered in fresh snow, the rims of the Grand Canyon are truly beautiful. At the Grand Canyon National Park there is still plenty to do when those winter months arrive. Adventure doesn't stop for winter at this great national park.
The south rim of the Grand Canyon is open during winter months and most activities and programs are available, weather permitting.
Though there is not always sufficient snow, when there is. skiing in the park can be a great adventure. Snowshoeing activities are also available. Hiking the Grand Canyon Trails below the rim is another activity that many prefer to do during the winter months. There are fewer people and a great deal more solitude, though the trails can become icy and treacherous and caution is advised during bad weather.
The Christmas cheer is abundant at the park if you choose to spend your holidays there. No matter your preference, from brightly lit Christmas Trees and warm fires at the lodges, or you can choose to spend your holiday with some ranch hands when you take mule ride to Phantom Ranch for a true rustic Christmas. The ranch hands will cater to your needs and ensure plenty of holiday cheer for your Christmas adventure.
