Bright Angel Lodge
With a 1935 design and rustic charm, it's no wonder that Bright Angel Lodge is a Registered National Historic Landmark. Located just a few feet from the south rim of Grand Canyon National Park, Bright Angel Lodge is the check-in point for the Grand Canyon Mule Rides. Oodles of activities await nearby this beautiful lodging.
Centrally located to all of the South Rim activity, Bright Angel Lodge is a convenient starting point. A desk in the lodge provides information about transportation, tours and activities.
A popular path is the Bright Angel Trail, which is just west of Bright Angel Lodge. Beginning on the South Rim and west of Kolb Studio, the trail drops down to the Colorado River. Bring extra water, as the elevation changes 4,460 feet over the 7.8 miles of trail.
The Bright Angel Fault is a famous feature in Grand Canyon National Park. Carving through Grand Canyon Village, it continues down past Indian Gardens and Phantom Ranch, and up Bright Angel Canyon before ending up near the North Rim.
After the day's activities and turning in for the night, Bright Angel Lodge has a restaurant, coffee house and ice-cream fountain. Other evening activities include shopping in the gift shop, relaxing in the lounge, and perusing the history room.
