Mather Campground
Mather Campground is the largest camping site on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, with over 300 campsites, including RV and trailer camping and group campsites for parties over six. Despite its large size, sites at Mather Campground are still spaced apart among the pinions and junipers, allowing campers privacy as they enjoy the scenery of the Canyon. The nearby Grand Canyon Village provides dining options, a post office and the park headquarters and library. And, of course, the nearby Canyon Rim provides one of the most spectacular views in the southwest.
Just minutes away from all of Grand Canyon Village, Mather Campground is nothing if not accessible. Shuttle stops make it easy to tour the canyon, and the nearby showers, dining, laundromats, gift shops and general store make roughing it a little less rough. All campsites come with fire grills, making it possible to enjoy a late-night fire and conversation. Be warned, however, no wood gathering is allowed, so bring your own or purchase some at the general store. Although there are RV- and trailer-sized sites, there are no hookups for water, electric or sewer. Pets are allowed, but must stay leashed.
Mather Campground is open year-round. Campsites are $18 per night, with group sites available for $50 per night. Reservations are taken year-round, except for the winter season, from mid-November to late-February.
