Desert View Campground

Located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Desert View Campground is just 26 miles away from Grand Canyon Village but still offers a relatively quiet and remote camping location within pinion pines and junipers. With a limited number of campsites and very restricted room for RVs or trailers, these soft, pine needle-covered campsites fill up quickly during the busy summer season, so claiming a site by midmorning is definitely worth the time. The nearby Desert View overlook offers beautiful early morning and late evening views of the canyon, and evening concerts by the coyotes often lull campers to sleep.

The 50 campsites at Desert View Campground are found at the eastern end of Desert View Drive, a scenic route that runs along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and gives excellent scenic views of the canyon. Although potable water and flush-toilet restrooms are available at the campsites, there are no hookups for water, electricity or sewer, and the nearest showers are 26 miles away, at Mather Campground. All campsites have fire grills. Pets are allowed, but must stay leashed.

Desert View Campground is open from mid-May until mid-October, depending on weather. Campsites are $12 per night; no reservations are accepted.
