Aspen Valley Golf Course, Flagstaff

Golf Courses //
Have you ever noticed how every town, community and golf course that employs the word "Aspen" in its name abounds with scenic virtue? This trend holds true with the Aspen Valley Golf Course, a private country club located in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Instead of being an atypical desert-course, Aspen Valley provides two features normally not associated with Arizona golfing: mature trees and shade. But given that this course is located at an elevation of almost 7,000 feet the shade bonus is a mute point. Flagstaff's temperature is almost 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix's, making this course immune to Arizona's wretchedly hot summers.
Tight fairways, seven ponds and thin air variances require a calculated game of course management. Knowing when to lay up or whack away is imperative. The course's sloped greens are reputed for causing golfers of all levels to weep openly.
Tee times can be reserved 10 days in advance. Chipping greens and practice bunkers are available, but there is no driving range. The course is open from April through October. No denim is allowed and all golfers must wear a collared shirt.
