National Forests & Wilderness Areas
The Grand Canyon of Northern Arizona, both the south and north rims, are surrounded by various national forests and wilderness areas. Opportunities for great outdoor forest and wilderness recreation are abundant. Some of the areas are extremely remote and only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicle or on foot or horseback. Home to old growth forests, this area is nearly as spectacular as the Canyon itself.
