Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra

Music and increasing talent are the cornerstones of Arizona's Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra's success. For more than half a century, the group has wowed its patrons with events and performances that have earned it top recognition across the state. In fact, it attracts a loyal following from all corners of the country.

The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra (Arizona) has been inspiring audiences for over fifty-five years with its well-established and talented performers. This music ensemble has gained a reputation that has gone well beyond the city limits, drawing nationwide attention.

The FSO, as locals call it, provides a musical interlude from the drudgery of everyday life, giving food for the souls of people of varied musical tastes and ages. In 1950, under the direction of Dr. Eldon Ardrey and Dr. Jack Swartz, what was once the Northern Arizona Symphony, was developed into a vibrant and strong cultural group. Since then, the only way has been up.

The symphony offers 7 concerts from September to April, including varied performances at Christmas and for the area's many schools. The regular season is held at the Ardrey Auditorium, accommodating some fifteen hundred guests. During the past couple of years, over fifteen thousand satisfied music lovers have donned their best bib and tucker to enjoy the pleasure of their incredible abilities.

Not only has the group focused on enriching lives musically, but as a non-profit organization, they have raised funds not only for their own needs, but to set up programs in musical education, both through local schools and higher level institutions. In fact, if it were not for their continued efforts, musical classes in some schools may have fallen short on their ability to provide their students with the equipment and instruction they rightly deserve.
