Grand Canyon Association Events

The Grand Canyon Association serves to enrich the visitor experience of the Grand Canyon National Park, through it bookstores, educational publications, community outreach, and scientific research across Arizona. Sponsored events help bring to life the innumerable riches of one the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. Make sure to take a look at the Grand Canyon Association calendar of events here!

In addition to the educational materials that the Grand Canyon Association distributes to park visitors, the organization also hosts a plethora of events for members, class participants and the general public. The themes of the events are as varied as the Grand Canyon itself—anthropology, arts and culture, zoology, geology, archeology, paleontology, history, environmental studies and more.

For example, one afternoon you could learn about the California condors' struggle from the brink of extinction in lecture by an expert wildlife biologist. Another day you could discover the beauty of the region's Native American rock art and how it compares to other cultural artifacts like pottery, textile, and basketry, with an expert anthropologist leading the way. Just about anytime of year, the Grand Canyon Association sponsors book readings and signing from acclaimed authors, whose works focus on Grand Canyon related themes.

Throughout the year, the Grand Canyon Association's Field Institute holds hands-on classes in the majestic Canyon. Classes like "Six Days, Five Trails: History," "Tonto Trail: End to End," "Grand Canyon through the Eyes of an Artist" permit attendees to experience so much more than they would behind four-walls of a traditional classroom.
