Where is Grand Canyon National Park?
The Grand Canyon is in the northwest corner of Arizona. The South Rim is 60 miles north of Williams, Arizona on Route 64 from I-40. The North Rim is on Highway 67, 44 miles south of Jacob Lake, Arizona.

Where are the closest airports and distances?
The South Rim is served by Grand Canyon Airport, south of the park about 7.6 miles,
Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, about 90 miles away and the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, 275 miles distant.
The North Rim is served by Las Vegas McCarran International Airport and with limited service into St George, UT Airport, 156 miles west.

What is the average temperature?
Summer temperatures on the South Rim range from highs in the 80s to lows in the 60s and 70s. North Rim summers are cooler, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s, although it can drop to below freezing on occasion.
Winters on both Rims reach highs during the day in the 40s and lows in the teens. It can drop to below zero due to high-pressure systems between storms.

When is the Grand Canyon National Park open?
The South Rim is open all year, and the North Rim is open from the middle of May to mid-October.

How much does it cost to enter Grand Canyon National Park?
Entrance fees include both Rims and are $25 for private vehicles with all passengers and $12 for individuals entering by foot, bicycle or motorcycle.

Can I bring my pet into the park?
Yes, you can bring your pet, but pets must be on a leash at all times. Pets are allowed (on leash) on the South Rim trails above the rim, and at the campgrounds and throughout the developed areas. On the North Rim pets are only allowed on the bridle path connecting the lodge with the North Kaibab Trail.

What camping and lodging options are available in the park?
Camping on the South Rim is at the Mather Campground and the Desert View Campground. On the North Rim camping is provided at the North Rim Campground.
Lodging options are many. On the South Rim there is a choice between 6 hotels/lodges and the North Rim has only the Grand Canyon Lodge inside park boundaries.

The elevation at the South Rim is about 6,800 feet while at the North Rim the elevation averages around 8,000 feet.

The Grand Canyon is known as one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
Still changing from erosion, the canyon took about 3 to 6 million years to form.
Grand Canyon has a dozen plants that are only known within the boundaries of the park, but in total contains more than 1,500 plant species, 355 bird species, 89 different mammals, 47 various types of reptiles, 9 amphibians and 17 fish species.
