Whitewater Rafting - Noncommercial

A noncommercial rafting trip on the whitewater of Grand Canyon makes for an exciting vacation. There are many opportunities to take such a trip if you have a permit, and getting a permit isn't as hard as you may think. Don't pass up your chance for the greatest raft trip ever.

In Grand Canyon National Park, there is a unique opportunity to take a perfect trip down the Colorado River, braving the whitewater on a raft. Noncommercial river trips (also known as private river trips) are available for your group through the permit system of the National Parks. It's a first-come, first-served sort of process.

You can start out at Diamond Creek and finish at Lake Mead on a two to five-day excursion. You can also begin your adventure at Lees Ferry going to Diamond Creek. Some take minimally seven days, but you can cut these in half by stopping at Phantom Ranch and hiking out.

Your trips can be on motorized boats or non-motorized, based on your preference. But no matter what you choose, you must first go to https://npspermits.us to win a permit in the weighted lottery. Go to that site to register. Each month, many trips are available, but usually for the following year. You will get instructions on the site.

On noncommercial river rafting trips, all members of the group must share in the preparation and conduct of the trip to qualify. There cannot be any set fee for any of the individuals participating.
