Summer Activities

Summertime in Arizona can be stifling - escape the heat at 11,500 feet! The Arizona Snowbowl, the immensely popular ski area just north of Flagstaff, operates all year long, and, at such a high elevation, offers cool respite from high summer temperatures. Plenty of activities - from hiking to mountain biking to disc golf - keep even the most adventurous family busy!

BEAT THE HEAT

Just hours from Phoenix and minutes from downtown Flagstaff, the Arizona Snowbowl, nestled high in the San Francisco Peaks, looks out over the vast acreage of Kachina Peaks Wilderness and Coconino National Forest.

A veritable summer playground, the Arizona Snowbowl operates their Scenic Skyride all summer long, whisking you 2,300 feet from the base area through beautiful aspen groves and over wildflower-covered ski trails. At the top, enjoy a number of different day hikes through the San Francisco Peaks, hit the trails on your mountain bike, or simply breathe easy and take in the magnificent view.

The Snowbowl's world-class disc golf course, chosen as a host course for the 2005 World Amateur Disc Golf Championships, begins at the top of the Skyride as well, though purists will often hike to the summit rather than taking the lift. With 18 holes winding down from 11,500 feet, the disc golf course provides a challenging and fun athletic experience, and is always an exciting alternative to the traditional day hike.

When the day is done, enjoy a stay in one of the Arizona Snowbowl's lodges, or cozy up in your own private cabin. High-class catering and bar service is also available, making the Snowbowl a perfect vacation for outdoor enthusiasts and gourmands alike.
